Plans. Many service providers will offer myriad plans for your cell phone and choosing the right one will definitely help you in saving money. Analyze the various plans that are on offer and choose accordingly. Some features are not required and can be completely opted out of. The plans may vary according to the type of use that you are going to put your cell phone to. Business plans are cheaper in the long run and personal ones are cheaper in the short run. Contract renewal. If you already have a cell phone then the cheapest option is to upgrade or renew the contract with your service provider. Services. Decide exactly which services are used by you frequently; if you do not use text messaging then cancel the text service. If you are a loquacious person then go for unlimited talk time plans. These plans are generally cheaper and long lasting compared to other plans.

Service area. The service area that you choose will also affect the price that you pay for your service plan. The extensive the service, higher will be the prices. If you want to save money on service charges then it’s better to opt for a smaller service area and avoid roaming and other extensive facilities. The amount of money saved due to this completely depends on the usage and the plan that you choose.

Used Phones. Used cell phones are even cheaper compared to refurbished ones since they are not remanufactured by the company. Thrift stores or pawn shops may not be the ideal place to procure your phone but it’s better to check with them anyway. Some stores offer used phones at very low prices. If you have an extensive network of friends then another option is to “put out a word” that you are looking for a used cell phone. A little patience may yield desired results and one of your acquaintances may be ready to sell his or her phone at a frugal price.

Accessories. Avoid buying expensive accessories that are offered by the provider or otherwise. Accessories are usually the culprit when it comes to huge expenses on cell phones. Even if you opt for accessories that are needed, choose one which is the cheapest. Cell phone accessories can be bought easily and are becoming cheaper by the day. It makes sense to choose a simple piece of accessory rather than opting for an expensive one which will be outdated by a newer, sleeker, and a cheaper version.
