Seven Green Cell Phones

In a market that has become ruthlessly competitive, a niche can be formed by selling the product to a target market that forms a financially powerful albeit smaller section of the complete set. One such sector is the section where potential consumers are looking for greener options. Many cell phone manufacturers cater to the needs of the “green” consumer by offering various phones that boast a smaller carbon footprint. Simply put, they provide phones that have minimal detrimental impact on Mother Nature.

Motorola. The MOTO W233 is a phone offered by Motorola that is made from recycled plastic bottles. The cell phone itself is recyclable and the company works with other eco-friendly organizations to curb the spread of its carbon footprint. According to Motorola, this phone is completely carbon free and is equipped with a long lasting as well as low priced battery.

Samsung Reclaim. The Samsung Reclaim is made from eighty percent recyclable material and the outer layer is bioplastic. Forty percent of the outer layer is made from corn and is PVC free. Moreover, the charger has an Energystar logo which makes it an eco-friendly device.

Samsung BlueEarth. The Samsung BlueEarth is another model by Samsung that boasts to be eco-friendly. The phone is made from recycled plastic water bottles and has software to track your carbon emissions. It also has a solar panel on the flipside that gives it a rather apparent greener look.

Sony GreenHeart C901. The phone is made from at least fifty percent recycled plastic and leaves a carbon footprint that is fifteen percent smaller compared to other phones. The phone’s manual is available on the internet which eliminates the use of paper for the same. Moreover, the phone has a smaller packing which again reduces the use of raw materials that are harmful to the Environment.

Sony GreenHeart Naite. This phone again has the same features as the C901 model with lesser carbon footprint, and a smaller pack. Another feature that makes it a little different is the carbon footprint calculator that accompanies it. This device helps in calculating your carbon emissions and helps in analyzing and controlling them.

Nokia Evolve 3110. Nokia has also launched a phone that is eco-friendly and is made from fifty percent renewable material. Sixty percent of the box that it comes in is made of recycled material. It is also equipped with an efficient charger which consumes lesser amount of energy compared to other chargers.

ZTE Coral 200. This phone has evolved out of necessity and is available where there are limited numbers of power grids. The phone completely operates on solar power and Samsung says that it comes with a panel that reduces the consumption of battery power by thirty four percent. One hour of exposure to the sun will give around ten minutes of talk time and twelve hours will yield approximately four hours of talk time.
