Green Walls: "Cool" Savings

Green walls are those that are partially or completely covered with vegetation using inorganic material or soil as the growing medium. Such walls have the vegetation for a green fa?ade usually installed outside the structure; however some green walls can also be built inside the home. Also referred to as vertical gardens, biowalls, or living walls, there are numerous methods of attaching these including to the air-return of the building to improve air filtration.

Superinsulation: Saving Money on Heating

Superinsulation is a way of cutting costs on fuel that is used for cooling and heating a residence. Such type of insulation is parallel to the concept of passive solar or passive buildings that do not use any mechanical apparatus or fuel for its cooling and heating needs. However, superinsulation may be only required in colder conditions and weather; especially areas away from the equator or in mountainous regions where it is cold almost all year round.
